Clinical Evaluation of Unasyn^(¢ç)(Sulbactam/Ampicillin) in Respiratory Tract Infections

Abstract

|
Clinical usefulness of Unasyn¢ç, an injectable antibacterial combination consisting of ampicillin and. 13lactamase inhibitor sulbactam, was conducted in patients with respiratory tract infections: A daily dose of 3 to 6g Unasyn¢ç was administered to twenty patients for. seven to fourteen days. Clinical effects were found excellent in five cases and good in twelve cases with efficacy rate of 85%, Of total sixteen cases examined for bacteria, twelve cases were rated as susceptible and two cases as intermediate, with efficacy rate of 87.5%. Skin rash with itching in one case caused cessation of medication. One case was found mild nausea, and another with transient elevation of transaminase, but neither was to an extent to stop medication.
